Whyalla Maritime Museum 30th Anniversary Live On Triple Y

The community broadcasting radio station, FM 107.7, will be broadcasting live from 10am to 2pm at the celebrations on Sunday (August 28).

Marc Littlewood, Station manager, content & technical director for 5YYY, said it would be the fourth outside broadcast for Triple Y since equipping itself for these events just a few weeks ago.

“We will be Interviewing people of interest at the event and having a general conversation with our community,” Marc said.

“We will try to capture the opening ceremony and broadcast it to the community also.

“We’re rapt that Triple Y members will be out and about on the day being part of this fantastic event.”

The acclaimed museum will be marking its 30th anniversary with the celebration on Sunday. The day will feature the Maritime Museum on the Lincoln Highway and the iconic HMAS Whyalla Bathurst-class corvette that has watched over the site for the past 30 years.

The Museum is throwing open the doors with an open invitation to visit the amazing gardens and museum, and explore the HMAS Whyalla free of charge. It will be a fair-type atmosphere with a vintage car display, TS Navy cadets on display, jumping castle, roving clowns and face painters, giant games, food, coffee and music.

Another highlight will be the "How to bring a warship into your backyard" exhibition on board the ship consisting of cartoons produced by Stephen Stanley.

The Maritime Museum is on Lincoln Highway part of the Visitor Centre precinct. For further information call the Visitor Centre on 1800 088 589.
