Ada Ryan Gardens

Ada Ryan Gardens is Whyalla’s most popular park, a haven for recreational relaxation with beautiful grounds.

Unearth the sentimental value that you can experience by simply walking through a park.

Featuring shady lawns and gardens, free BBQ’s and picnic facilities, bird aviaries, free tennis courts, beach volleyball, toilets, a playground and paved wheelchair- accessible paths. The Ada Ryan Gardens is linked to the Whyalla Foreshore with a walk way creating a large and lush recreational area.

Ada Ryan Gardens was the first major park established in Whyalla, named after the wife of the chairman of the then City Commission, Charles Ryan. The Ada Ryan gardens were the site of Whyalla’s first cemetery, which was moved in August 1918 to the current cemetery in Broadbent Terrace. 
 

Civic Park

Civic Park includes a central garden and playground, and free BBQ and picnic facilities adjacent to a lawn area. The Park includes a sound shell popular for community events.

Jessop-White Park

Named after Kay Jessop (Girl Guide leader), and Doug White (Whyalla Citizen Band leader), this lovely park offers toilets with disabled access and a shelter with BBQ.

Whyalla Foreshore

The Whyalla Foreshore provides a large leisure and recreation area; popular for events, family fun and relaxation on the ocean shore.

Whyalla Wetlands

Whyalla Wetlands is an ideal picnic area with BBQ’s, a nature playground, toilets and shelter; a perfect spot for time out. Kids can unearth adventure on the nature playground suitable for children to have adventures climbing, sliding and enjoying the flying fox.

Wilson Park

The views from Wilson Park extend over the OneSteel Whyalla Steelworks and the more distant Port Bonython and Point Lowly area. Free sheltered BBQ’s and picnic facilities; ample shade and lawns.

Whyalla Conservation Park

A visit to the Whyalla Conservation Park during dusk or dawn will reveal the Park at its best with the red sandstone of Wild Dog Hill ablaze in the sunlight.
