The Library will be holding a program of marine inspired activities throughout the July school Holidays. The activities will be fun, full of colour and children and families will be able to use their imagination to craft and create sea themed works of art!

VR cuttlefish experience

Dive into the mesmerising world of cuttlefish with our immersive VR Marine Themes: Cuttlefish Sessions. This unique event leverages cutting-edge virtual reality technology to bring you face-to-face with one of the ocean's most fascinating creatures—the cuttlefish. 

Each session is 30mins. 

Please arrive 5minutes before your session start time so you are ready to go.

These events are brought to you thanks to funding from Inspiring SA and the Whyalla City Council.

CUTTLE-TOONS

Join Children’s University’s Richard Parker in a cartooning workshop you won’t want to miss! Learn how to draw Whyalla’s famous giant cuttlefish in different cartooning styles and create your very own colourful Cuttle-Character!

SPARKLES THE CUTTLEFISH

Experience story sharing inside Sparkles the Cuttlefish, an immersive experience. Explore your undersea surroundings with VR Goggles to make the ocean really come alive.

Cuttlefish and their Cousins

Come and discover Cuttlefish and their cousins in the cozy environment of the Library with Marine Janine, Marine Ecologist and Educator. Janine has over 30 years experience in the marine research and will share her experience with you in this educational session.

Marine Slime TIme

Join us for an exciting and interactive kids’ session at the library, where the magic of science comes alive with color-changing slime! Kids will be amazed as they create their own slime and watch it change colors right before their eyes just like our amazing cuttlefish.

Marine Theme Art Team

Get creative designing your own marine picture using a variety of art tools. This super creative and fun art session is aimed at Primary School aged children and their families to come and unleash their creative energies into making marine themed art!
