Cowell

Cowell is a coastal town on Franklin Harbour on the eastern side of the Eyre Peninsula, an hour’s drive on the Lincoln Highway South of Whyalla.

Safe sandy beaches with fishing and oyster farming, Cowell has the world’s oldest jade deposit. The town is situated on Franklin Harbour, a land-locked bay with a narrow entrance through which boats have access to the calm waters. Fishing offers spotted and silver whiting, snapper, squid, mullet, flathead, garfish, snook, tommy ruff and blue crabs. Find out more about Cowell from the Whyalla Visitor Information Centre.
