The Whyalla Maritime Museum & HMAS Whyalla are temporarily closed due to COVID-19. We hope to re-open as soon as possible.
The Whyalla Maritime Museum is home to the first ship to be built in the Whyalla Shipyards in 1941 which now stands high and dry, 2km from the sea and 2m off the ground and yes you can climb board to explore and learn about life on the sea on a guided tour.
The Whyalla Maritime Museum galleries reflect Whyalla’s shipbuilding era documenting the story of the four wartime corvettes built in Whyalla.
Open daily: 10am – 4pm, the Whyalla Maritime Museum is only closed Good Friday and Christmas Day. Admission includes a tour of the WWII Bathurst Class Corvette, HMAS Whyalla, with guided ship tours daily at
11.30am and 1.30pm. *Closed-in footwear must be worn (No Thongs) - increased hazards due to maintenance on board.
