The Whyalla Maritime Museum is home to the first ship to be built in the Whyalla Shipyards in 1941 which now stands high and dry, 2km from the sea and 2m off the ground and yes you can climb aboard to explore and learn about life on the sea on a guided tour.
The Whyalla Maritime Museum galleries reflect Whyalla’s shipbuilding era documenting the story of the four wartime corvettes built in Whyalla.
Museum open daily: 10am – 4pm, the Whyalla Maritime Museum is only closed Good Friday and Christmas Day. Enjoy a tour of the WWII Bathurst Class Corvette, the HMAS Whyalla, bookings are essential, with guided ship tours daily at 11.30am and 1.30pm. *Bookings Essential-Closed-in footwear required.
