Whyalla has a new brand

Whyalla City Council is taking positive steps to rebrand the City of Whyalla, and ultimately reposition the city as a whole.

The council began a rebranding process in November 2015, engaging experienced consultants Algo Mas Marketing to undertake the extensive process involved with developing a new city brand.

The process included extensive public consultation, city profiling, and the development of imagery representative of the city.

Whyalla’s new brand was officially launched Sunday 20 November 2016 by Premier Jay Weatherill at a special community gathering at Wilson Park.

As part of the South Australian Government’s Country Cabinet meeting being held in Whyalla on Sunday, November 20 and Monday, November 21, Premier Jay Weatherill and Whyalla Mayor Lyn Breuer officially unveiled the newly-painted Whyalla Rudder, signifying the launch of Whyalla’s new brand.

Work has begun to roll out Whyalla’s new brand across the city’s infrastructure, with the most notable visual changes being the installation of new signage at the Point Lowly turn off, and the painting of the ‘Rudder’, at Wilson Park.

Whyalla Mayor Lyn Breuer said the unveiling of the new-look rudder on Sunday would be a momentous occasion in Whyalla’s history.

“Rebranding Whyalla plays an essential part in the city establishing itself as a progressive destination, particularly given the volatile economic climate currently being experienced, and the council is excited that the rebranding project has now reached the stage of officially launching the new brand, so we can start putting it to use,” Ms Breuer said.
