Julian James and the Moonshine state bring a high energy, Americana Hill Country sound, featuring whiskey drenched Fiddle, Bass and Drums.
Known for his whiskey-drenched Americana and Hill Country blues, Julian James has been a fixture in Melbourne’s live music scene since his teens. With four acclaimed albums under his belt and a Chain Award for Emerging Blues Artist of the Year (2020), Julian’s music offers a dynamic fusion of energy and tradition.
His latest single, Catfish, is a vibrant reimagining of the Muddy Waters classic Catfish Blues. Produced by ARIA Award-winning Matt Fell, the track features legendary harmonica player Charlie Musselwhite and backing vocals from the Hussy Hicks. This fresh, upbeat twist on a Delta blues staple showcases Julian’s knack for breathing new life into beloved classics.
Whether performing solo, with his band The Moonshine State, or alongside his wife, the talented Beci Kate on percussion and vocals, Julian’s performances are a rollicking celebration of Americana and blues.
